Ever wondered why many Africans view any association with western world as a prestigious connection? Well, the answer lies in the mystery of the advent of the early civilization brought by western explorers, missionaries, sailors and tradesmen. Whatever that was displayed by white settlers was seen as emblem of opulence, power and might. This notion has been passed on from one generation down to the other generation. From education, trade, religion, administration, legal framework, gargets, farming methods, archtecture style and beauty. Quite often you will encounrer a politician or religious leader or NGO worker, who after only benefiting from the western establishments, shouts how powerful he is and does not need western world. Yet almost all his kids are schooling or working overseas. You can choose to love or hate the west, but definetely  you cannot ignore it
